Red Stars
In 2005, Springfield Air Rendezvous audiences saw more planes flying formation than have ever been assembled at one time in the 58 year old history of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. This year, they will see even more. The Redstars, an informal group of Nanchang CJ-6 pilots expect to launch 18 of their type into the air and parade in mass formations down Air Show Central - and probably over the city before the show begins to bring people out to the big show. Led by Jeff Linebaugh, every member is highly experienced flying these airplanes and all are rated (qualified) for formation flying. Today, most military planes fly in formations no larger than six airplanes and usually no more than four, what the professionals call a flight. To see more than six airplanes together in flight in this modern time is a unique event. The sight and sound will amaze you. Consider the Redstars just 18 more reasons why you will be on hand for this most memorable air show!
