Beyond the superlatives he has earned over his many years of announcing at our airshow, there is another side to this full-time 747 pilot that is part of every appearance. It's the respect of a fellow pilot (and Illinois Air National Guard veteran) for fighting men and women serving the cause of freedom today. In the past years, flying for a major US airline, Herb Hunter has transported thousands of service personnel to and from Iraq. He has been there. He may have desert sand on his soles as he narrates this year's airshow. Appearing at Springfield Air Rendezvous for the first time, Stein flies his Edge 540 aircraft through a constant maneuvers and transitions routine that hardly includes a moment for spellbound fans to catch their breath. He is a gladiator against the sky, and he always returns to terra firma the smiling victor! US Jet Aerobatic Team ~ $20,000.00

Civilians Commandeering The Sky
The first ever civilian jet team in North America, we are pleased to present, in their first appearance at Springfield Air Rendezvous, performers who will capture your attention from takeoff to touchdown... and beyond. Since 1988, US Jet Team has flown the classic Fouga Magister, built in three countries in Europe, but a "rare bird" stateside. Included on the team roster are a Space Shuttle astronaut and ex military combat pilots who are as impressive in the autograph tent as they are in the air. Terry Calloway & The Red Stars ~ $7,000.00

Thousands of Team Red fans who have seen their unique combination of Chinese-built flying machines, and the fabulous mass formations of the Red Stars held their breath in 2005, eagerly looking forward to their return. They can exhale. Terry Calloway will fly a solo performance of classic aerial high-jinks in a memorial to his friend and Teammate Rodger Modglin. He will be joined this year, as in 2005, by the Red Stars, a mass formation of similar aircraft originating in the land of the Panda. In an age when it's unusual to see six airplanes flying close to each other, the majestic flybys of up to 18 airplanes is a rare feast for the eyes and ears. Your company can help make it happen.

Lima Lima Flight Team ~ $12,000.00

Great performers, like old friends, keep returning to Springfield Air Rendezvous. Over the years, this northern Illinois based group has graced the sky above Air Show Central frequently enough that we always remember them well, but infrequently enough so that we always look forward to their return. Flying the bright yellow Beech Mentors, ex-military trainers, Lima Lima's pace is graceful and smooth. We have a great history of "simpatico" with these gentlemen who rule the sky and audiences' eyes when they take flight. Be a part of this history. Mark Hagar Dangerous Moment Stunt Team ~ $10,000.00

Fireballs, searing heat, -No, we're not talking about the Illinois General Assembly when it's in session. - Smile. You may be on TV. When truck-jumping, thunder-flashing, crowd-pleasing Mark Hagar and his Dangerous Moments Stunt Team appear at Air Show Central, a Spike TV film crew will be capturing it all for a future show. This is the Team's first visit to Springfield, though they have performed at speedways and airshows for more than 10 years. Illinois Army National Guard Helicopter Demonstration ~ $2,000.00

Every year, we are privileged to host demonstrations by skilled men and women in uniform serving on freedom's front line. Those who fly and support these performances need a place to call home when participating in Springfield Air Rendezvous 2006. Dan Buchanan ~ $6,300.00

Never Say Never
He is a legend: Dan Buchanan was already a successful airshow pilot when he lost the use of his legs while skiing in the Rockies. By pure determination and considerable skill, he returned to the air with a one-of-a-kind performance that will delight and inspire. His hang glider is towed aloft and then the real fun begins: trailing smoke and banners and cavorting around the sky like an Olympic gymnast with wings until landing gently, precisely at Air Show Central, close to the dazzled spectators. US Air Force Heritage Flight ~ $3,000.00

Where History & Technology Come Together
One of the most unforgettable parts of Springfield Air Rendezvous in recent years, Heritage Flights bring a modern combat aircraft and restored ex-military warbird together in "a breather;" a break from the high speed gyrations above Air Show Central.

Here is "history on the wing," flying formation with our front-line finest. During their unhurried passes, everyone will pause to reflect on the contributions of soldiers on the ground, on the sea and in the sky, today and in years gone by. Children's Village ~ $5,000.00

Most visitors to the perennially popular Children's Village stand about knee-high to a Fighting Falcon, and that's just the way it should be in this special part of Air Rendezvous 2006! Young visitors will enjoy amusements that are safe, supervised and lots of fun. Over the years we've discovered that the only thing that comes close to topping the fun the kids are having are the smiles of parents, sharing their fun while taking in the rest of our thrilling jubilee in the sky! Here the kids will find a pint-size fire pole (courtesy of the Springfield Fire Department), a Star Walk Ride (inflated jumping pillow), roving Animal friends Air Bear and Heli the Hound, a coloring area (we supply crayons and art), motion rides and other hands-on activities.
